What is a Code Of Conduct??
In my previous University semester, I studied a module about ethics. I learned many important things from that module, one thing is about the code of conduct. There is always a code of conduct when it comes to a club, organization, or company. Today I’m gonna share the things that I learned about the code of conduct.
What is a code of conduct?
- A code of conduct is a set of rules outlining the norms, rules, and responsibilities or proper practices of an individual party or an organization
Why?
- It provides a framework and a standard for ethical decision making within the organization
Is it Important?
- Yes, because it clearly lays out the rules for behavior and provides the groundwork for a preemptive warning.
According to the above points, it is very clear that a code of conduct is an essential thing in a club, organization, or company. Also, it is very helpful for us to work in the club, organization, or company because it gives us an idea about what we should do and what we shouldn't do as a member or an employee of the relevant organization or company.
To get a better idea about the code of conduct, I'll explain the British Computer Society’s code of conduct. British computer society is a well-known society among IT professionals as well as IT students. This is also known as the charted institute of IT.
There are main four sections in their code of conduct.
- Public Interest
- Professional Competence and Integrity
- Duty to Relevant Authority
- Duty to the Profession
These are the four sections of British computer society. I’ll give a brief explanation about those sections and about what they say. The first section explains the way that you should behave with the public. The second section is about how you should work within the organization. The third section is about the things that you should consider when you are dealing with the relevant authorities. The last section is about the things that you should follow to uphold the reputation of the organization as well as the profession. These four sections are explained more deeply on their website so take a look at that as well. I hope you learned something from my blog😇.
