I started to contribute on GitHub a couple of months ago. In the beginning, it was a new experience. I contribute to the sefglobal.org website several times. It was a privilege to had the chance to work with the sef dev team. while working with them I got to know about so many new things. First I contributed to the issues on the website. After that, I contributed to the frontend of the ScholarX program which is conducted by sef.

while the dev team was checking the functionality of the application I got the chance to check the mentee flow of the application. That was a new experience that I haven't faced before. I was also very curious to do that. I had to set up both the front end and the back end on my computer, but I already had the front end setup. The back end was a new thing to me so I had to set it up on my computer. after that, I had to deploy the whole thing on my computer which means to run the front end and the back end at the same time to check the things that I was assigned.

For this, I had to learn about database management systems such as MYSQL. I haven’t had that experience before. So I learned things about MYSQL. I had to use a dummy database as well as edit the database to check the functionality of the mentee flow. While completing this task I had to face some challenging things as that was my first time working with these databases. At last, I was able to finish the task that I was assigned for and I had to create a thread in the SEF hive about the issues and the suggestions that I came up with the mentee flow while checking it.

I learned some new things. It was a very important thing that when we are working with a team, We need to have the skills for brainstorming to have more ideas and more suggestions.

So that's it! That was the new experience that I had and I’m looking forward to experiencing new things.
