In this semester I had to learn about web development. There was an interesting part, it was design thinking. Under this topic, we had to learn 5 stages in design thinking. So I'm gonna share the things I learned about those stages.

Hasso-Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford has proposed 5 stages of the design thinking model

  • Stage 1- Empathize

In order to finish this stage, we can have interviews, field studies, and empathy mapping to get a better understanding of the user’s needs. The basic idea of this stage is to get a real insight into your user’s needs.

  • Stage 2- Define

This is the next stage after the empathizing so the main thing in this stage is to analyze the data you gained through the 1st stage and use them to define the core problems.

  • Stage 3- Ideate

This is the stage to generate ideas to solve the problems. Brainstorming is a good method to generate new ideas. There are some other methods as well you can try any of them to overcome this stage.

  • Stage 4- Prototype

In this stage, we should start to create wireframes, sitemaps in order to create the solution

  • Stage 5- Test

This is this stage we should test our solution to ensure usability and to fix the bugs. Also, we should get some feedback from the user about the solution.

These are the 5 stages of design thinking. So whenever you are involved with design thinking make sure to go through these stages in order to make the solution a successful one!
